Our history shaped us, but our future drives us.

A new chapter for a school with deep roots
Today, that history is not a relic — it is a foundation.
As Chamberlain Hunt American Academy, we honor the past while building a model of education that reflects the world students live in now: digital, connected, mobile. We are accredited, diploma-granting, and accessible beyond the limits of geography. Students learn online. They learn hybrid. They learn in community hubs like our Port Gibson Learning Center, where academics and enrichment meet after school each day.
And still, the campus remains — 124 acres, 100,000 square feet, quiet and waiting for footsteps again.
We are preparing for that return.
One brick, one program, one family at a time.
And we're just getting started.

History & Heritage
Chamberlain Hunt Academy was founded in 1830 by Reverend Jeremiah Chamberlain in Lorman, Mississippi, as a place of discipline, faith, and academic rigor. After the disruptions of the Civil War, the school was revitalized in 1879 and relocated to Port Gibson, where it became an enduring institution of education on historic McComb Avenue. For well over a century, Chamberlain Hunt Academy stood as a landmark for learning, character, and community.
Today, as Chamberlain Hunt American Academy (CHAA), we honor this proud history while adapting to the needs of modern learners. By transitioning into a fully accredited online K–12 school with hybrid learning opportunities and a growing network of community-based learning centers, we have expanded our reach and impact. Our commitment remains the same: to provide an education that is excellent, relevant, and deeply connected to both heritage and innovation.
Looking ahead, CHAA is preparing to restore the full on-campus, in-person experience while continuing to serve students online and in hybrid formats. In this way, we carry forward our nearly two centuries of legacy into a future where every learner has a pathway to success.
